Friday Favorites: The bar edition

Hey there. It has been quite a few weeks since I have posted on a Friday. I am usually pretty tired by the end of the week and don’t know what to say. BUTTT today I had some inspiration!

My new favorite bars, since it seems a lot of brands are coming out with new flavors now! I have tired 3 new ones this week alone so I wanted to share my thoughts! Feel free to mention any more you have tried that are new too in the comments!

Friday (Bar) Favorites

  • Luna Chocolate Salted Caramel: Very good! I feel like the Luna protein bars are sorta small but very dense. This bar is very chocolatey and salty like I felt like I was eating chocolate covered pretzels. I really like this bar! The only down side the chocolate covered-ness is that it melts in the sun/hot summer weather.                IMG_4391
  • Kind Caramel Macchiato (new mocha flavor too but I haven’t tried it): I got an email about these new bars and HAD to find them. We were going to Target that night and as luck had it they had all the new flavors! (Yay) My mom said to get one type at a kind because I am known to hoard bars (I buy way more than I eat) so first up was the caramel macchiato at $3.14 for 5 bars that is not a bad price! I really liked this bar. It is a great snack bar (less protein than some others) and the flavor is awesome. IMG_4383
  • Detour Salted Caramel Cookie Dough: This one I picked up at The Vitamin Shoppe. If you cannot tell I liked salted caramel flavored things! It is again chocolate covered. The taste is really good and the bar is a lot bigger than the Luna bar (also like $1.99 which is kinda a lot for a bar). I think it is good for after a workout when I am not going to eat a meal immediately. IMG_4394
  • Clif Bar Dark Chocolate Almond Sea Salt: again there is a trend is bars I like 🙂 chocolate, nuts, salted caramel, etc. These bars we got after our 5k race a couple weekends ago. We each got a couple of them in our brown bag ‘breakfast’ post race. They are snack size ones and perfect when you just need a little something. You can see all the nuts and stuff in them too! IMG_4395

Nowww who has tried the Mint Chocolate Chip quest bar?? I don’t need to order a whole box online so I am waiting for one of the stores by me to get them in stock! I do want to try them as soon as I see them though!

Chocolate Cherry Overnight Oats

Last night I made one of my best yet overnight oat recipes! I just started throwing things together and put it in the fridge for the night and it was such an easy grab and go breakfast this morning. I have been seriously loving my overnight oats this summer and this one is a keeper!

Chocolate Cherry Overnight Oats:

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground chia seeds
  • 1 tsp chocolate protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp coconut butter
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter/nut butter (any kind works)
  • 1 tsp mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup Siggs drinkable yogurt
  • splash of soy milk (or any kind)
  • 5-10 deseeded and cut up cherries

Directions: put together dry ingredients, add greek yogurt, milk/drinkable yogurt, and stir together. Add the fruit last and put into the fridge for the night. Enjoy in the morning or when cold.

I know I used a lot of ingredients but I wanted to cover all the health corners and I love putting my overnight oats together!
